Last year, I was in Los Angeles in January and saw the
NTDTV Chinese New Year Spectacular advertised in my hometown. I was in the middle of trying to absorb as much about China as I could so I decided to attent. Maybe I'm spoiled or maybe I'm jaded, but the show just wasn't what I expected.
The year before I had the privelege of attending a theater show in Xi'an so I think this may have spoiled the show for me. To tell you the truth, I walked out half way through.
I'm not sure if I walked out because I was spoiled due to seeing the far better show in China, or if I did because of the highly political vibe I was getting from the show. Now, I could understand very little Chinese at that time, but I did understand enough to hear the words Falun Gong and Taiwan a few times.
